What It Takes to Be an SP: Your Role in Shaping Future Healthcare

Becoming a Standardized Patient (SP) is a unique chance to shape the education of future
healthcare professionals. SPs play a critical role by acting as patients in simulated
healthcare scenarios, helping students build their clinical and communication skills in a
realistic and supportive environment. With thorough training, SPs portray specific cases
accurately and provide constructive feedback to enhance student learning.

What You Will Need:

  • Accurate role-playing: Portray patient cases realistically and consistently.
  • Evaluating students: Use checklists to assess student performance.
  • Providing feedback: Offer clear, constructive insights, both verbal and written.
  • Flexible schedule: Be available during business hours when most sessions occur.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with staff, students, and faculty.
  • No medical condition required: Training prepares you for all cases.

As an SP, you’ll help students gain the skills and confidence to deliver exceptional care.
